Offender Tracking Unit

The offender Tracking Unit (O.T.U.) was developed by Sheriff Melvin Brisolara in 2010. O.T.U. provides the courts in Harrison County with alternative housing for non-violent offenders with limited non-violent criminal history.

Offenders sentenced to O.T.U. are monitored by Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators using state of the art GPS technology. Offenders live at home and are required to work or be enrolled in school. Offenders pay for their own monitoring fees, living and medical expenses, as well as make payments on outstanding fines with the courts.

This program has reduced jail-housing costs to the Harrison County Taxpayers as well as freed up bed space at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center for offenders that are accused of more serious crimes.
